THE FUTURE OF

ENGINEERS EXPO

The Future of Engineers Expo was a self created event help at the Montverde Academy Innovation Center where students where able to explore the different types of engineering by doing fun activities. The University of Central Florida's SWE and IEEE programs were present, providing both a wonderful presentation and homopolar motor activity.

 2024

Both organizing and executing this event was quite a hassle but I was able to develop skills that would help me in the long run such as:

- communication

- how to get people to listen to you

- organization of time (scheduling)

This event was absolutely wonderful and it could not have been done without the help around me!

LAKE CLEAN UP

 2024

This Lake Clean Up was part of a Leadership and Service Learning Class I partake in. In this trip, we went to the Lake Dora Canal and with Dragon boats, clean up the surrounding environment.  Many had fun and it was a wonderful experience!

From this event, I was able to learn so, so much about how to run something outside of school as well as kids and what they enjoy in general. Some key things I picked up from this were:

- how to create permission slips

- find out hoe liability issues work with kids

- how to obtain a bus and bus driver for field trip

Paddling around this lake while watching the beautiful scenery was amazing and I can't wait to do it again!

PENNY WARS

 2024

''Penny Wars" was a school-wide fundraiser held by Meera Patel and I to raise money for sick children at Give Kids the World, a well known Florida cancer foundation. During this event, each grade level and advisory would compete against each to have the most amount of pennies in their jar but if someone put any other coin in your jar, point would be subtracted. This fun style of the game caused many students and even teachers to become very competitive, leading to us raising $797 for the place!

This experience taught me a grand deal about leadership and how to present an idea. Additionally, it made me be confident in what I think I will be able to achieve as our original goal was $150 and we surpassed that by a long shot! Some things I learned was how to:

- meet with higher ups

- create a clear and concise plan for kids to follow

- use Excel and Google Sheets

-Count coins

- create fair rules

This was a great way to raise money for such a cause and did amazing! So good that after a while, we were interview by a staff member of Give Kids the World and asked how we did so well!

FUTURE SERVICE

In the future, I hope to continue my work with Give Kids the World and even create my own non-profit that can assist those in need for education! I also currently help out at some local charity thrift stores such as The Hope Center!
